John Maltby studied sculpture in Leicester and Goldsmiths College, London. He joined David Leach at Lowerdown Pottery (1962 - 1964) before setting up his own pottery at Stoneshill near Crediton, Devon in 1964.
Having mastered the traditional ceramic techniques Maltby went on his own artistic journey. His instantly recognisable forms and delightful designs often using boats, harbour scenes and naturalistic motifs are included in many important collections including the V&A museum. His work is widely collected.
We have collected John’s work for many years and in that time Peter has proudly exhibited with him in many galleries.
